Extraordinary Decisions - Markelle Palombo

In her photography series, Extraordinary Decisions, Markelle Palombo presents the narrative of a woman’s journey as she boldly traverses vast expanses of natural and urban landscape. Unabashedly dressed in fashionable, feminine attire as she explores new land, Palombo's subject embodies a powerful sense of both freedom and womanhood. Through this series, Palombo hopes to encourage women to explore new places with confidence. 

Note: Exhibition running through February 24th.

A Couple - Nattaphon Hanphithakphong

A Couple showcases a personal selection of oil on canvas paintings depicting the Nattaphon's father engaged in various day-to-day activities. For the artist these pieces act as a visual diary and tribute to his father who had to undergo brain surgery following a stroke. The medical scare had a significant impact on Nattaphon who has always had a close relationship with his family.

Window to Nature - Aiwen Chen

Aiwen captures the beauty and energy of the natural world in her oil on canvas paintings. She is particularly attracted to bodies of water, which are often featured in her compositions. Her painterly pieces are made using a palette knife to create textured surfaces.

Marit Piromthamsiri's architectural photography series explores the beauty of decay as seen in abandoned structures throughout the the Bay Area. These deserted edifices are testaments to the ever-changing socio-economic trends of a community that continues to grow and adapt.

Bouquet - Cory Swenson-Scott

Artist Reception: Friday, January 5, 2018 | 5:30-7:30pm

Bouquet presents a collection of portraits with female sitters, each a personal acquaintance of the artist. Through the manipulation of space and lighting, in addition to the unique characteristics of each woman, the artist plays with the viewer's perception of each sitter. The goal of each piece is to create a connection between the viewer and portrayed women "that considers the strengths and vulnerabilities of women in the modern world".

Nature's Beauty - Jing Xiao

Nature's Beauty showcases landscape and still-life paintings made during Jing's two years in San Francisco. Her landscapes are plein air paintings in which she attempts to capture the vitality and grace of environs she's explored.
