Definitions - Liz McCall

Artist Reception: Thursday, February 8, 2018 | 5:30-7:30pm

Liz McCall employs the printmaking techniques of monotype and collage to explore the relation between body and self. Her work serves as a method of reflection and discovery as she delves into questions about spiritualiry, creation, and identity. Although words serve as mankind's primary method of communication, McCall feels that written language cannot encompass the entirety of a sentiment or thought; as such, she inlcudes images alongside her raw letterforms to make the intangible, tangible.

Serene Mistrust - Simone Dutra

Artist Reception: Thursday, February 8, 2018 | 5:30-7:30pm

Simone Dutra's solo-show Serene Mistrust presents a collection of photographs that confront viewers with their inherent fear or mistrust of the dark. Darkness has a tendency to provoke sentiments of uneasiness. Dutra's dimly lit, urban landscapes, encourage visitors to "stop, visually absorb and gently experience either the feeling of discomfort or peacefulness, and most of all, let the imagination fill in the gaps."
