Ellie Iranfard - Café Conversations

Artist Reception: Thursday, August 3, 2017 | 5:30-7:30pm

Ellie Iranfard's paintings capture the simple and casual atmosphere of café culture. The significance of café settings as a common meeting place for a diversity of people and various relationships--friends, co-workers, and lovers--fascinates Iranfard. She writes:

"My paintings are inspired by the Parisian Cafe culture, its artists and their conversations that changed norms. These cafes were the meeting places, where the first modern artists developed a new form of art, one that broke the rules of the academic system. In fact, cafes are social institutions that replaced the traditional Ecole Des Beaux arts and reinvented art as a representation of modern lifestyle.

A neighborhood café is a great place to find a story that inspires a painting."
