Sweet Memory - Yueyun Zhang

Artist Reception: Thursday, July 6, 2017 | 5:30-7:30pm

Yueyun Zhang's fondest childhood memories revolve around after-school baking with his family. These baking sessions were intimate moments when the Zhang family would come together to relax and reconnect after hours at school or work. Unfortunately, at age 12, Yueyun developed an egg allergy and the baking stopped. The time spent creating sweets with his family remained a treasured memory revisited during bouts of loneliness. Yueyun's realistic depictions of sweets aim to convey the awe, love, and nostalgia he experiences when encountering these delicious confections.

GyuHo Park - Dreamer

Artist Reception: Thursday, July 6, 2017 | 5:30-7:30pm

When GyuHo first moved to San Francisco he expected to see the pristine city he had read about in the glossy pages of guidebooks. Although the landmarks remained the same, to his surprise, the streets were crowded with the homeless and littered with trash. GyuHo was shocked by the disparity between the wealthy and poor in the city and began to talk to and photograph the homeless, learning about their lives throught this process. By presenting these images, GyuHo hopes to confront viewers with the individuals of the street we are so used to ignoring.
